Interpretive Hikes

Learn about the creation of the Canadian Rockies most eastern ranges and the history of the Kananaskis valley. You never know what we may find along the way. Will it be wildlife or their tracks? We’ll go on to discuss how different species co-exist in mountain ecosystems.

Guided Group Hikes

This season we are excited to offer a series of group hikes on a regular basis. On each hike, you will explore a breathtaking and fascinating area of Kananaskis. You can sign up with a couple of friends or come out and make new friends! Some of the hikes will be done workshop style, where you will get to hike while learning in a hands-on environment.

Rocky Mountain Wildflower Hike:

Come out and take in the splendor of spring in the Rocky Mountains, where the mountain slopes are blanketed in brightly coloured wildflowers. Make sure to bring your camera on this scenic hike!

Wildlife Tracking 101

Come out and learn the art of tracking! Tracking, and being able to identify animal signs in the forest will add a new level of enjoyment to every hike to do! Come out with an experienced interpretive guide and learn to recognize and identify tracks and scat. This hike is perfect for people off all ages!

Sunset and S’mores Family Adventure:


 This family oriented evening hike is sure to make memories that will last a lifetime! Join your guide on a nature hike through the forest; stand in a mountain meadow and take in the breathtaking views and learn about the wildlife that calls Kananaskis home. When you’re all done hiking, relax and unwind around a campfire. Roast marshmallows over the glowing embers and enjoy delicious s’mores.

Ghost Town Hike 

Come and join us on an adventure back in time! Do you know what was in Kananaskis before the 1988 Olympics? We do! Come and explore the rich history of Kananaskis. Hike through the ghost town of Ribbon Creek, a once vibrant mining community, and hike up Mt Allan to the site of the coal mine that brought 3000 people to the Kananaskis Valley in the 1940’s. As this hike is moderately strenuous, it is only open to participants ages 10 and older.

 Introduction to Nature Photography

Join your guide on a hike through beautiful Kananaskis Country and learn the basics of nature photography. All types of digital cameras are welcome, we will help you get the most out of whatever type of camera you have! The terrain we will be covering will be fairly easy, with little elevation gain. If you have any specific questions beforehand, please let us know when booking so that we can be sure to cover the topic in detail.

Scenic Photography Tour

Allow us to chauffeur you around on a 4 hour long sightseeing tour of Kananaskis. This tour will have frequent stops, with short walks to scenic view points. There will be lots of time for photos and we will be on the lookout for wildlife as we travel through the heart of K Country. Moose, Rocky Mountain sheep, deer, elk and bears are frequently seen on the route we will be travelling. Take in panoramic views, and breathe the fresh mountain air on this incredible trip.

Mountain Biking

Kananaskis has some of the best mountain biking in the Rockies. We’ll start off with a skills clinic to hone the group’s abilities, then we’ll head out on the trail and have even more fun!

Half day (2-3 hr)

Voyageur Canoe

Enjoy a day in a Voyageur Canoe!

We are very excited to be offering an authentically Canadian experience this summer: Voyageur Canoe tours. This boat is 25′ long and holds 9 adult guests. We start our tour with a short paddling lesson, emphasizing working together as a team. While we explore Barrier Lake your guide will recount the Voyageur days and the significance of these explorers to Western Canada.

Voyageur Canoe Group Excursions:

Group Excursions will be offered every Sunday, starting June 28th, 2015 and running until August 30th, 2015. Tours will depart at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm.

Private Voyageur Canoe Excursion:

A two hour excursion costs $495 and $625 for a three+ hour excursion. This includes all necessary safety equipment, certified guide and bottled water.

No paddling experience is necessary. Please book in advance.

Learn to SUP on Barrier Lake

Have you always wanted to learn how to Stand Up Paddleboard? Now is your chance! Come to Kananaskis, the Valley of Adventure and learn the art of paddling on a scenic lake surrounded by mountains. Your certified SUP instructor will teach you the basics and then take you on a scenic tour of the lake.

Flat Water Canoeing

Enjoy a day of paddling on one of Kananaskis’ crystal blue lakes. Let the peaceful surroundings melt away any stresses you may have. We’ll start off with a simple paddling lesson close to shore then embark on our journey. We’ll go on to discuss the history of the area and our majestic lakes. Why not make it a full day event with a lake side lunch.
